In this week's episode I got to sit down with Minerva Siegel, AKA Spooky Fat Babe. Minerva is a plus size model, poet & writer who's been published both in print and online internationally. Via her blog and her instagram, she shares her insights into all things body acceptance, fat positivity, living with disabilities, spirituality and witchcraft, self care and more.
In this episode we discuss her relationship with food and her body, and how it has evolved to current day. We discuss her lens on self care, and how for her a large part of self care is shadow work. We talk about how her disabilities played a role in her being able to make peace with her body. And SO. MUCH. MORE. JUICY. STUFF.
This week we have another installment of my solo series where we hash through a recent article on 'health', wellness, dieting, food and disordered eating, and discuss the actual facts behind the bold claims being made in these spaces.
But this week is a little bit different. Rather than tearing through this week’s article, fact checking and debunking, I’m actually just sharing a very important, much needed piece published by Huffington Post. I wouldn’t normally share something in this way, but I think that just speaks to HOW vital this information is, and I couldn’t have written it better myself.
This piece, written by Michael Hobbes addresses the very real marginalization that fat people face every single day of their lives, in addition to much of the misinformation we have about obesity.
This week we are BACK with full episodes, in season 4 of the podcast. I am so excited to kick off this season with a kickass interview with the incredible women behind the blog ‘Not Plant Based’.
Not Plant Based was founded by Laura Dennison and is co-authored by Eve Simmons, both of whom have suffered with eating disorders. They are telling our stories to help others who have also suffered, or are continuing to, with troubled eating. They’re re-discovering happiness and contentment through exercise and by eating the food that they love (namely pasta, meat, potatoes, melted cheese and Kit Kats) in hope that you will too.
I'm taking the remainder of August & September to enjoy this beautiful summer, as well as restock my interviews for next season!
But because I can't imagine departing from you completely for the next 6-8 weeks, I'm going to be releasing mini episodes where I answer listener questions each week.
